He has a gigantic lightning shaped scar on his back but no one has seen it or the rest of his body because he never takes off his clothes in the view of anyone. Shizu was adopted into a family of rich people. They treated him like a slave instead of a son and forced him to serve them from top to toe.
The caretaker of the house saw this and constantly reprimanded the rich people, but they took no heed. Slowly, Shizu was beginning to resent his life.
One day, the rich people gave birth a son. From then on, Shizu was hated even more and almost never fed anything. The cooks and maids had to sneak him food.
The child was sickly and was bedridden. Seeing that, the rich people relented and made Shizu the child's personal servant. The child was a boy and made quick acquaintance with Shizu, much to his surprise.
The child was quite spoiled but would order his parents to treat Shizu better. His parents were unhappy and decided to lock Shizu up in the basement.
One night, the child unlocked the door and asked Shizu to follow him out of the mansion. Shizu was ten while the child was five. Shizu agreed. When they arrived back, the rich parents had been murdered. The child and Shizu both cried but and after the funeral, the child inherited the mansion.
The child did not however, inherit his parents' evil hearts and hired Shizu as his personal butler. Shizu was trained in basic ninjutsu and butler skills. After four years, the child decided to let Shizu enter ninja academy. By now, the child was healed of his sickness and had many more bodyguards.
Shizu thanked the child and left his foster brother for the Kumogakure ninja academy.
